Tasha's Story

Carrie Simon House fights homelessness and poverty in the Washington, D.C. area, by providing young mothers and their children with a safe, nurturing home, and individualized, whole-family support to achieve their goals. Carrie Simon House works to help women overcome inequities and realize their own and their families’ potential.

Small by design. Big on impact.

A nonprofit transitional home, Carrie Simon House accommodates up to three families at a time in its well-maintained residence in NW Washington. Because of our size, we are able to tailor our program to address the needs of each mother and child who are experiencing homelessness. Our wrap-around services include case management, trauma-informed counseling, mentorship, and life management and parenting skills. We follow best practices to provide mothers aged 18-30, with the tools, guidance, and skills necessary to build community connections and relationships.

Established in 1988, Carrie Simon House has helped transform the lives of more than 100 women and their children in the Washington D.C. community.

A Lifeline that Lasts

We develop relationships with current residents, and we provide individualized support to alumni families who have transitioned to independent living. We continue to provide critical resources as families take steps forward to maintaining independence.
