Renetta Davis Armstrong, M.Ed
Executive Director

Renetta Davis Armstrong is the current Executive Director of the Carrie Simon House. Renetta earned a BA in Political Science from Trinity Washington University. Upon graduation, Renetta launched a career in youth services and non-profit management. Renetta secured an M.Ed in Education Administration and Policy from Howard University, to better support her work as an advocate that believes in community and academic institutional change.

Aujanae Donalson, MSW
Housing and Wellness Manager

Aujanae Donalson is the current Housing and Wellness Manager at Carrie Simon House. Since graduating from Syracuse University with Masters in Social Work, Aujanae specializes in child welfare, supporting children in academic success and parent development. She has been with Carrie Simon House since 2017.

Deborah G. Astrove

Deborah G. Astrove is a partner with the law firm, Friedlander Misler, PLLC. In addition to the Carrie Simon House, she sits on the executive committee of the Jewish Foundation for Group Homes. She is a graduate of Boston University School of Law and Tufts University.

Lissa Levin
Finance Manager

Lissa Levin has Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the American University. She worked in financial analysis and software consulting for fifteen years and is currently a principal with NextGen LED, a full-service lighting retrofit company offering managed service contracts. Lissa has served as the Treasurer for the Parents Committee of the Early Childhood Center Washington Hebrew Congregation for five years.

Addie Adelekan, Phd
Board Member

Dr. Addie Adelekan is a consultant and was most recently Director of Technology Services at AVF Consulting/Jitasa. Professionally, she has also served in various technology, operations leadership, and project management roles at Fannie Mae, Wells Fargo, and Lincoln Financial. In addition to Carrie Simon House, Addie is the founder of AllNigeriaReads; an organization that is setting up children's libraries throughout Nigeria and an orphanage in Kenya. She earned her undergraduate degree at Howard University, her MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and her Phd from Regent University.

Melinda Halpert
Board Member

Melinda Halpert is a marketing and communications professional with more than 35 years of leadership experience at prominent nonprofits, including AARP, First Book, and Management Leadership for Tomorrow (mlt.org). She also serves as a freelance writer and consultant. Prior to joining board of directors, Ms. Halpert volunteered as a mentor with Carrie Simon House for 15 years. Ms. Halpert earned her B.A. degree at Skidmore College and her MBA at the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

Janet Katz
Board Member

Janet Katz is an active member of Washington Hebrew Congregation where she has served in leadership roles for Mitzvah Day, the Early Childhood Center and the Religious School. For the past 20 years, she has developed educational programs and consulted on strategic leadership and management issues in the public and private sector. Early in her career, she worked in the social service sector with women and teens. Ms. Katz is a graduate of the University of Connecticut.

Cortney Weinbaum
Board Member

Cortney Weinbaum is a national security policy researcher at RAND Corporation specializing in Intelligence Community policies, practices, and technologies. She has improved analytic and collection tradecraft, identified emerging technologies, and facilitated strategic planning for intelligence and defense agencies. She has a B.S. in Physics from the University of Michigan.

Dana Agusto
Board Member

Dana Agusto is a practicing Certified Public Accountant and a Senior Manager overseeing internal audit, government compliance, and tax at Mathematica, a leading research consulting company. Previously, she was an Audit and Advisory Manager at KPMG LLP, a Big 4 public accounting firm. Dana brings financial expertise to the board as well as previous non-profit board experience from her time on the Chicago Public Library Foundation and Children Home + Aid Associate Boards. She earned a Master's degree in Accounting from Governors State University and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

Toni Purvis
Board Member

Toni Purvis has 15+ years of experience in career coaching, program development, event management, DEI, and etiquette consulting.  Her professional career includes roles at Goldman Sachs, Booz Allen Hamilton, The George Washington University, and Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT).  Currently, she is the owner of Paradigm One LLC, a career consulting firm that teaches diverse young professionals etiquette and soft skills to fast-track their career.  Toni has a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from Spelman College, an M.A. in Christian Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary,  and an M.B.A. from The George Washington University.

Khobi Williamson
Board Member

Khobi Williamson is a venture capital professional. He concentrates on improving small businesses sales and marketing systems. Before venture capital, Khobi played basketball professionally in Germany and Qatar. He is also graduate of the Brown University and Hampden-Sydney College.
